On 4th October, Nick Hamilton travelled all the way from Yorkshire to talk to us about his garden, Barnsdale, familiar to many as the 'Gardener's World' TV garden (with his father Geoff Hamilton).

 

Nick told us about expanding the garden after his father's death & the often hilarious ups-and-downs of opening to the public: including toddlers that – the moment they can get away from their parents – run "like Olympic sprinters" straight for the nearest pool. The upside, as Nick explained, was that they cleared the duckweed brilliantly in the process "taking most of it home on their clothes".

 

Nick also brought us some lovely 'in-season' hardy plants & shrubs to buy from the Barnsdale nursery.
